Week 2 of CYM Canada’s first and hopefully only ever Virtual Vyshkil Camp began the same way the first week had ended by welcoming distinguished guests. The ambassador of Ukraine to Canada, the honourable Andriy Shevchenko, who has been a permanent guest speaker at the counsellor-in-training camp the last few years, addressed the participants.

Mr. Shevchenko’s presentation focused on the most recent history of Ukraine, beginning with the Euro-Maidan and the subsequent Revolution of Dignity and ending with the three most important issues for Ukraine to resolve: 1) the ongoing war on the Eastern front with Russia and its proxies 2) continuing democratic reforms with the goal to become a member of the EU and 3) overcoming the current pandemic and the economic repercussions of Covid-19.

The second main topic of the day – theology, was presented by the chaplain of CYM Canada, Father Andrij Figol and Olenka Laschuk. Father Andrij pointed out that the answers to the question “How to live a Christian life”? we as CYMivci can find in the essential rules for Yunatstvo! Podruha Olenka, on the other hand, with her group analyzed basic concepts of our faith, such as theology, the meaning of God, humans and what distinguishes them from other creatures, free will and the purpose of life being to seek the truth and do good.
