In a blink of an eye the last day of our recreational overnight camp “Illuminating Path” in honour of our CYMivic-Defenders at Werchowyna has arrived! It is a very sad day for all. After breakfast the kids made their way to their palanky to pack. Seeing everyone pack up was sad as the palanky became more and more empty. We then made our way to church. Thanks to Father Ihor Oshchipko we were able to have our last liturgy at St. Olga’s chapel. The kids then marched down to the field where we began our closing ceremony.
Although this year’s camp has come to an end, its effects will last for a long time. Thanks to the never-ending selfless work of the komanda tabour as well as the camps’ instructors and kitchen staff, our camp was a huge success. Komanda consisted of the following CYMivci: during the first week of camp, the duties of the commandant were divided between Tanya Choly and Natalia Schturyn; Nicola Hanych-Marcotte took over the role for the second week; Laryssa Luszczki was the head instructor, responsible for preparing and implementing the camp program as well as being lifeguard during the camp, ensuring the safety of all campers while swimming; bunczuzhna was Melania Schturyn and the role of pyaar was shared by Bohdana Olyva and Vasylyna Molodtsova; camp nurse was Natalia Savka; the amazing kitchen team was led by Taras Figol as the main cook and we also cannot forget our great sports referent, Julian Harasymovych and Tymur Pekar, who kept the kids active throughout the camp.
Without a doubt, this two-week camp was a great success. May the Lord grant that this time of gaining life’s wisdom blossom in every soul who had the opportunity to participate. We hope that this camping experience will encourage parents to enroll their children in CYM so that our organization can grow and prosper.
Stay strong! See you soon! With God, to Victory!
