Saturday – 18 July
It was a rainy but fun-filled Saturday at the “Verkhovyna” camp! Despite the bad weather, the campers actively participated in their daily activities: they sang, played sports, and kept their cabins clean.

After lunch, everyone gathered to watch a movie, followed by a book contest where the children presented their best stories and creative designs. Then it was time to prepare for the campfire and take a short break.

The day ended with the traditional weekly campfire, during which the campers treated everyone to wonderful skits full of humor, creativity, and good cheer. To wrap things up, the camp came together in a sing-along, creating yet another warm and unforgettable evening.

Friday – 17 July

 

Today at “Verkhovyna”, the campers took a break from their usual activities and participated in the Olympics! All groups were divided into teams representing different countries: Argentina, Ukraine, Spain, Australia, and France. Throughout the day, they competed in a variety of fun and athletic challenges, demonstrating team spirit, perseverance, and a great attitude.

After lunch, the campers enjoyed their daily downtime, a swim, and singing together instead of the usual activities.

To wrap up the day, a special treat awaited everyone—the “Mr. and Mrs. Verkhovyna” contest, during which the camp staff transformed into comical characters and had the campers in stitches. After some spectacular performances, the winners were announced—the “Powerpuff Girls” and “Penguins” teams.

Thursday – 16 July
At camp “Verkhovyna”, the campers had a fun and active fifth day of camp!
The day began with the traditional activities, even despite the rainy weather. The campers enthusiastically participated in singing, sports, and crafts. The children also had an unforgettable discussion about the Crimean Tatars with drug Danylo, the camp’s bunczuzhnyy.

Before dinner, everyone took part in an exciting photo scavenger hunt, which brought plenty of smiles, teamwork, and unforgettable moments. The day ended with a fun evening party filled with good cheer, laughter, and a friendly atmosphere.

Another wonderful day at camp, full of adventures, creativity, and new memories!

Wednesday – 15 July
The recreational overnight camp at “Verkhovyna” successfully completed the fourth day of its packed program.
The day began an hour earlier, as the campers set off on a walk to the “Boute-en-Train” camp. There, everyone had a wonderful time: they jumped on inflatable attractions (bouncy castles), rode the zipline, and tested their skills in the maze.

To wrap up the day, everyone had the chance to celebrate Ivan Kupala. The girls wove traditional wreaths, the boys made Kupala crosses, and later everyone together set them afloat on the water, preserving the beauty of Ukrainian folk traditions and creating unforgettable memories.

Monday – 13 July
The second day of camp was filled with new learning experiences, activities, and unforgettable moments! The children began their rotations—sports sessions where they tested their strength, team spirit, and agility, as well as art workshops where they expressed their creativity and imagination. And during singing time, the children began learning new songs.

A particularly touching moment of the day was writing letters to our defenders on the front lines in Ukraine. Each letter was filled with words of gratitude, support, and sincere wishes for a swift victory and a safe return home. This was followed by a discussion dedicated to the 80-year history of SUM in the diaspora. Campers learned more about SUM’s values, traditions, and contribution to the upbringing of Ukrainian youth around the world.

 

The day concluded with a group movie night, which left the campers in high spirits, with plenty of smiles, and another wonderful camp memory.

Sunday – 12 July

The recreational overnight summer camp at Verkhovyna has begun!

The first day brought us many new friendships, genuine smiles, and unforgettable moments. Many new children arrived at camp and have already become part of our big camp family.

We traditionally began the week with a ceremonial assembly, and later participated together in the Divine Liturgy, which was celebrated by Father Oschipko. It was a wonderful start to camp life, filled with prayer, unity, and good cheer.
Many more adventures, games, new experiences, and memories await us—ones that will surely stay with us for a long time!
