This year’s Leadership Seminar was held concurrently with the Plenary Session from May 1 to 3, in St. Catharines. Thirty-three members of ‘starshe iunatstvo’ and young druzhynnyky from the Branches in Winnipeg, Edmonton, Etobicoke, Calgary, Mississauga, Montreal, and St. Catharines participated in the seminar. The seminar was led by Natalia Tchoryk with the assistance of speakers: the chaplain of the CYM St. Catharines Branch, Father Roman Dusanowskyj, Christina Truszyk, Nestor Sanajko, Bohdan Cherniawski, and virtually Vladyslav Heraskevych— the Olympic skeleton athlete from Ukraine disqualified for his patriotic stance of honoring fallen athletes in the war with Russia on his helmet during the recent Winter Olympic Games in Italy.
During the workshops on “Leadership,” participants had the opportunity to explore the fundamentals of leadership: personal skills, communication, time management, teamwork, collaboration, goals and vision, and conflict resolution. In the “CYMoznvastvo” sessions, participants examined the various membership groups (stiahy) for CYM druzhynnyky such as ‘vykhovnyky’, ‘suspilnyky’, ‘kulturnyky’, ‘mizhnarodnyky’ and ‘ratnyky’ and the overall organizational structure of CYM.
On Sunday, May 3, the participants and delegates began the day with a Holy Liturgy at the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius. After breakfast, the participants of the Leadership Seminar concluded their work by presenting the completed projects they had chosen at the end of last year’s seminar.
The highlight of the event was the presentation of certificates to the graduates who had completed all three modules of the Leadership Seminar, namely: Olena Grod, Sofia Laba, and Boryslav Stec from the Mississauga Branch, and Luka Newland and Danylo Radovenchyk from the Montreal Branch.
The CYM National Executive extends its warmest congratulations to all participants of the Leadership Seminar and wishes them every success in their future work within the ranks of CYM. We also thank all the instructors for their participation and for dedicating their time to our future leaders.
