On July 7 campers were busy preparing for Ivana Kupala festivities.
Aside from attending core sessions on cymoznavstvo, pedagogy, religion and leadership, campers attended a special lecture on Ivana Kupala traditions and St. John the Baptist led by podruha Tanya Choly, the program director of UYA St. Catherines. Campers also had a chance to practise more Kupala songs under the direction of Olenka Kleban, a member of Kosa Kolectiv.
In the evening, counsellors Adrianna Medyk and Oksana Stech organized a mystical Ivana Kupala program full of song and intrigue. Mermaids, forest dwellers and gypsies were also in attendance.
In accordance with Kupala traditions, the boys retrieved floral wreaths cast into the water by the girls. The evening ended with festsinging around a bonfire.
