On November 14-16, 2025, the XXVIII Ukrainian Canadian Congress was held in Toronto, Ontario, under the slogan “Resilient Together!” We are also pleased to announce that the 28th Ukrainian Canadian Congress re-elected Ms. Alexandra Chyczij as its president for a third term, for which we offer her our sincere congratulations and wish her every success in the future. A number of CYM members joined the Board of Directors, representing other organizations, such as Orysia Boychuk, Oksana Kuzyshyn, Michael Shwec, Adelia Shwec, Bohdan Figol, Olha Grod, and Petro Schturyn. Markian McColl will be CYM’s representative on the UCC Board for the 2025–2028 term.

CYM Canada was represented at the Congress by the following 21 members: from the National Executive, Danylo Musienko, Natalya Schturyn, Marko Diaczun, Vitaliy Kshetskyy, Khrystyna Zagirska, Andrij Demusz, and Harry Nesmasznyj; from the CYM Edmonton Branch, Mykhaylo Kozlovskyy, Daria, Lukian, and Stefan Podilsky, Marko Boychuk, Ulana Soletsky, Kyria Baczinsky, Roksolana Isczenko, and Solomiya Myc; from the CYM Mississauga Branch, Zoriana Kilyk, Tetiana Stelmakh, Oriana and Boryslav Stec; and from the CYM Calgary Branch, Anna-Maria Zagirska. In addition, numerous CYM members representing other organizations such as LUK, LUK-ok, UCC Branches, etc., also participated in the Congress, as evidenced by the group photo of all CYM members.

Our delegates actively participated in the Congress program, including round tables and individual group sessions that addressed a number of interesting issues.

Among the distinguished guests who participated in the Congress were numerous ministers, including David McGuinty, Anita Anand, Chrystia Freeland, and parliamentarians James Bezan, Ivan Baker, Ontario Premier Doug Ford, Mayor Olivia Chow, Senator Stan Kucher, former General Romeo Dallaire, current Canadian Ambassador to Ukraine Nataliya Cmoc, her predecessor Roman Wasczuk, Ukrainian Ambassador to Canada Andriy Plakhotnyuk, former Ambassador Andriy Shevchenko, and Ukrainian World Congress President Paul Grod. In addition, human rights activist and Nobel laureate Alexandra Matviychuk, as well as numerous other speakers, addressed the Congress participants via video link.

We are also delighted to announce that the highest award of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, the Shevchenko Medal, has been awarded to Olesya Luciw-Andryjowycz of the CYM Edmonton Branch and Oksana Prociuk-Ciz of the CYM Etobicoke Branch for their more than four decades of active community work.

The Ukrainian-Canadian Leadership Award was presented to Bohdanka Hontar and Lesya Bonk, both from CYM Mississauga Branch, and Petro Kryworuk from CYM London.

The Ukrainian-Canadian Youth Leadership Award was presented to Laryssa Luszczki from the CYM Montreal Branch and Daria Podilsky, Mykhaylo Kozlovskyy and Marko Boychuk, all from the CYM Edmonton Branch.

We congratulate all our members who were honored with awards from the Ukrainian Canadian Congress and express our sincere wishes and encouragement for their future endeavors.
