CYM Geelong, under the patronage of Stepan Bandera, celebrated its 65 year Anniversary on Sunday 22 October.

The day began with Divine Liturgy at the Ukrainian Catholic Church with a Panakhyda for Stepan Bandera at the conclusion of the liturgy. This was followed by Apel in the church hall.

In attendance were special guests Deacon Michael Kaminskyj, Peter Duma (1st Vice President, CYM International Executive and former president of Geelong branch), Andrew Duma (President CYM Australia National Executive) and Nick Soloczynskyj (President CYM Melbourne). Each guest greeted and congratulated the Geelong oseredok on this special occasion.

Outgoing President Ricardo Kobas who is leaving to pursue a career in Canada handed over the Presidency to Mark Hyd (Vice President) who is now the Acting President of CYM Geelong for the remainder of the candidacy. We thank Ricardo Kobas for his tireless efforts and wish him all the best for his future. We congratulate Mark Hyd and wish him well for the remainder of the candidacy to continue the good work of the oseredok.

Following the Apel, former Presidents of the branch were invited to cut the commemorative cake.

The program began with presentation about the history of the Geelong oseredok was presented bilingually by Ricardo Kobas and Mark Hyd.

This was followed by a video presentation made by our Yunatstvo about what CYM means to them and some of the interesting topics they have learned in their educational sessions. We thank John Kaminskyj, Rhiannon Kichakov and Steven Tkaczuk for helping the Yunatstvo for creating a wonderful presentation.

This was followed by a referat about the life and work of Stepan Bandera, the patron of CYM Geelong by Yuliia Holovchenko. It was a well written and thoughtful piece.

The program concluded with the singing of the CYM hymn.

The celebrations continued at Eastern Gardens with an informal picnic. We were fortunate to have over 40 people attend our celebrations.

We thank everyone for their participation today and look forward to many more wonderful years!
