In the early hours of Thursday, February 24, 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin addressed his nation, announcing a “special military operation” against Ukraine. Minutes later, Ukrainian were woken all around the country to the sounds of missiles in their cities. An act of war was declared in Ukraine from hereon.
The Ukrainian Youth Association of Australia condemns the actions by the leadership of the Russian Federation, launching a full-scale invasion of our territories. The Russian Armed Forces are shelling peaceful cities, bringing death and terror to Ukraine and to the whole European continent in an attempt to subjugate Ukraine to Moscow’s imperial rule.

Російські збройні сили обстрілюють мирні міста, несуть смерть і жахіття Україні та цілому європейському континенту в спробі підкорити Україну імперській владі Москви.
The National Executive of the Ukrainian Youth Association in Australia appeals to the Australian government and the international community to stand united with Ukraine and stop Kremlin’s war against Ukraine. We urge the Australian and international communities to:
- Increase sanctions against Putin and the Russian Federation including the removal of the SWIFT facility from the Russian economy, and application of the Magnitsky Act against corrupt Russian officials and oligarchs
- Provide military aid to Ukraine including the donation of military and medical supplies
- Provide humanitarian aid through such funds as the Australian-Ukrainian community’s Ukraine Crisis Appeal
- Provide assistance to strengthen cyber defence against ongoing cyber attacks
- Block all sources of misinformation and fake news, including the Russian funded television channel Russia Today
- Censuring Russia from all international organisations, including the United Nations, Council of Europe and OSCE
Світова Управа та членство Спілки Української Молоді звертається до світового співтовариство стати пліч о пліч з Україною і спільно зупинити війну Кремля проти України. Ми звертаємося до всіх миролюбних нації діяти рішуче проти підриву суверенітету і територіальної цілісності України.
Putin has made his goal clear. He aims to take over Ukraine by force, destroy its territorial integrity and sovereignty. Ukrainians will resist! Australia and its allies must stand up to this dictator and continue to #StandWithUkraine and #StopPutinNow!
We ask all our members to write to their local Federal Member of Parliament, to request the above items be actioned, and to continue to support Ukraine.
Continue to counter the dissemination of false and fabricated information about Ukraine, share the truth about Ukraine’s heroic war in defence of its right to statehood and independence.
Ukrainian know their history for they are its creators. We believe in a prosperous future for Ukraine! Let us support Ukraine’s defenders and stand united in our joint defence of our homeland!
