This year, the Canadian Leadership Seminar took place from March 26 to 28.  For two hours each day, members of starshe iunatsvo and young druzhynnyky came together to learn from guest speakers about leadership and issues important to CYMivtsi.  This year, 27 participants joined the seminar from Edmonton, Calgary, Etobicoke, Mississauga, Montreal and St. Catharines. The seminar led by Lida Jendzjowsky and Natalie Kardasz welcomed a host of guest speakers: Father Andrij Figol, Irene Mycak, Chrystia Zagirsky and Andrea Kardasz.

Even though the seminar was virtual, participants had a chance to get to know each other through games or “quests” online that were presented by Andrea Kardasz (Kyiv) and Natalia Karadasz (Etobicoke).  Overwhelmingly, the participants voted that the game that asked them to write something about themselves in 280 characters or less, like on Twitter, was their favourite.  Once all of the ‘tweets’ were collected, participants had to guess who wrote each one.

On Friday, former President of CYM Canada, Irka Mycak presented information about leadership and leadership roles at the National and International levels of CYM.  Then, Chrystia Zagirsky (Calgary) presented information about the structure of Plenary Meetings (of the National Executive) and the relationship to leadership.  This was important because the Leadership Seminar happened on the same weekend as the annual Plenum of the National Executive of CYM Canada.

Father Andrij Figol, chaplain of CYM Canada lead a discussion with the participants on Saturday on the topic of the CYM’s spiritual foundation.  On Sunday, the second and third year participants had the opportunity to present their projects, which are a very important component of the program of the Leadership Seminar.  They were very creative, especially because they were completed during a global pandemic.  We congratulate the participants who presented their creative, and interesting projects!  Well done!

Towards the end of the seminar on Sunday, participants had a chance to say goodbye to each other with the hope that next year they could gather in-person, at the next Triannual General Meeting to continue their discussions and gather as friends and leaders of CYM. На завершення, семінару, учасники попрощалися з надією, що наступного року, всі зможуть знову зійтися на Крайовому З’їзді, щоб продовжити дискусії і працю як друзі і провідники СУМ.

The National Executive of CYM in Canada thanks and congratulates all Leadership Seminar participants and wishes them all the best in their future endeavors in particular within our organization. A sincere thank you to the organizers of the Seminar and all the guests and guest speakers who generously gave of their time and effort for the benefit of our future leaders.
