As you are, no doubt aware, the people of Ukraine have come out in force to protest against the Government who reneged on signing an agreement with the European Union – against the wishes of the people. Hundreds of thousands of protesters have gathered in Kyiv’s Independence Square and in other cities to demand a reversal of the decision. The protests, called #EuroMaidan, are also being held throughout Europe, Canada, USA, India, Japan and South Korea, among others, in support of democracy in Ukraine.
The AFUO along with the Ukrainian Youth Association National Executive, urges Ukrainians in Australia to show their support for democracy in Ukraine, as Ukraine is in Europe, as well as to demand that the Government sign the agreement.
We ask Hromady to co-ordinate in their states Ukraine for EU rallies, and all Ukrainian organisations to disseminate the information about planned events.
This matter is urgent as the EU summit will be held in Vilnius on this Thursday and Friday, 28 and 29.11.2013 . Ukraine calls for the greatest possible participation in rallies on Thursday in particular.

Melbourne : Rally on Thursday 28th November 2013 from 4 – 8 pm at State Library of Victoria, cnr Swanston & La Trobe Sts., opposite Melbourne Central station.
Sydney: Rally on Thursday 28th November 2013 from 4.30 pm at NSW Parliament House, 6 Macquarie St, Sydney NSW 2000.

- Sign the open letter to president Yanukovych
- Wear blue and yellow.
- Bring flags, musical instruments and song lyrics.
- Record video clips of messages to the people of Ukraine, and demands to the President & government of Ukraine.
- Perhaps include facepainting of Ukrainian symbols.
