Tabir 2015 Children of Heroes Project

Taborova Komisia is this year supporting a very special project – Children of Heroes – the aim of which is to welcome to our 50th celebratory tabir at Tarasivka a group of 12-14 starshe yunatsvo from Ukraina who have, in recent times lost a parent in the defence of Ukrainian sovereignty.

The project coordinators are Tanya Klymenko (Vyhovnyk CYM London) and Sofia Fedeczko(Krayova Uprava) workin

g in collaboration with myself, Anna Fedeczko (holova taborovoyi komisiyi for Krayova Uprava) and with the full support of Krayova Uprava GB. To cover the costs of their stay at tabir, travel, visas etc for the group of children and an accompanying adult £10,000 needs to be raised. The amount raised will determine the number of children who will be able to come.

For the purposes of fundraising Ukraine Charity (www.ukrainecharity.org.uk) have accepted this project as a worthy cause and will be hosting a JustGiving online donation facility. This is a London based organisation established in 2007 to raise funds for charitable causes in Ukraine and specifically focuses on helping orphans.

This is an opportunity for our youth association to contribute to a youth-focused humanitarian aid project and for our yunatstvo to hear firsthand from their contemporaries about life in Ukraine today. These children will have never travelled abroad and are very interested in getting to know more about Ukrainian life in Europe. After all, a European future for Ukraine is the cause their parents gave their lives for! Spending time with us at Tabir will provide a unique enjoyable experience and much needed respite.
