The UK’s annual educational-recreational camp kicked off on Sunday 31 July 2016 with a buzz. We have close to 200 campers who have come not only from all four corners of the UK, but we also have CYMivtsi and guests from Germany, Belgium, Portugal and Ukraine. This includes 18 children who have been invited by the National Committee (Krayova Uprava).as part of the “Children of Heroes” project.

Camp started with a group photo and Mass celebrated by our CYM chaplain, father Evhen Nebesniak.

The rest of the day saw SUMeniata set off on their hike around camp and down to the river, molodshi sang songs, whilst the starshi met Christina Paschyn, director of the “Crimean Tatars” film, and then watched the film.

Starshi were also set to work on the “camp postal service” – our new light-hearted “secret Santa” service: …more about this later.

Ahead of us – a programme packed full of exciting, fun-filled activities!
