2015 Pan Am Play Day

On Monday, June 22^nd, the Ukrainian Youth Association’s (UYA) Camp Veselka hosted the inaugural joint Play Day for our Toronto Catholic District School Board Eastern Rite schools. The event was a tremendous success with participation of almost 800 children from St. Demetrius, St. Josaphat’s and Josyf Cardinal Slipyj schools, along with teachers and parents. God blessed the day with sunshine, and under the patronage of Bishop Chmiliar and with the blessing of Fr. Wolodymyr Yanishevsky from St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, the students enjoyed a happy and safe event in beautiful Halton Hills.

Many thanks to our UYA volunteers who helped make the event a success, and also to event sponsors and donors. A special thanks to UYA members Stefko Ostafichuk and the late Adriana Narozniak for their idea of uniting the three schools by promoting our faith, and developing a greater sense of inter-school friendships and community through play.

Children can unplug and unwind in the great outdoors, while enjoying activities such as sports, swimming, music, crafts, trips and much more.
