On Saturday, 29 February, CYM Canada celebrated the 95th anniversary of CYM. The formal evening started with the youth of the Etobicoke Branch marching in with flags and performing a short program. Following, the marching band Baturyn performed both the Canadian and Ukrainian anthems before Very Rev. Joseph Zyla blessed all in attendance.

Master of Ceremonies and President of the CYM Etobicoke Branch, Marko Diaczun welcomed all guests, in particular guest of honour, President of the Ukrainian World Congress and member of CYM Toronto Paul Grod.

The president of CYM Canada, Yuri Broda delivered opening remarks, highlighting CYM’s historical significance, which was further underlined by a short film about CYM’s 95-year turbulent history. Adrian Dlaboha, President of CYM USA delivered greetings on behalf of his constituency.

Guest of honour and featured speaker of the evening, Paul Grod in his remarks stressed the importance that CYM played in his personal upbringing as well as the many positive achievements of CYM, through its work with youth throughout the world, of which it can be proud.

For his more than twenty-year leadership at the helm of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress as well as Ukrainian World Congress, Harry Nesmasznyj on behalf of CYM’s World Executive presented Paul Grod with one of CYM’s highest honors.

The evening concluded with all guests singing CYM’s anthem “Vhoru Prapory”, which was followed by a dance with the band “Nervy”.
