This year a national CYM tabir was held at oselya “Hoverla” Colo River, near Sydney from 26 December 2013 to the 3rd January 2014. With over 125 CYMivtsi and many other campers and guests, this year’s tabir was highly successful. Petro Duma (holova CY CYM) was Komendant for the tabir alongside a youthful komanda from the various oseredky.

The theme of the tabir was “Remember your Heritage” with one of the key activities was the burial of a time capsule. All attendees were asked to bring something Ukrainian or CYM-related to be placed into the time capsule, so that in 35 years, when we celebrate 100 years of Ukrainian settlement in Australia, it would be re-opened.

Molodshe yunastvo enjoyed a day hike and camping out under the stars, the starshe yunastvo and some druzhynnyky participated in an overnight hike with a challenging river walk on the second day. Druzhynnyky and Seniory who are to be participating in the CYM Kokoda Hike later this year endured a grueling 3 day hike in the Blue Mountains.

Various activities including lectures regarding heritage, what it means to be Ukrainian, singing and marching ensured that the yunastvo had a full program. Sport mainly involved swimming in the Colo River due to the hot temperature. On New Year’s Eve, we celebrated as a CYM family with Sviat Vechir with the singing of koliady and traditional Ukrainian Christmas food. This was followed by a vatra where many of the yunastvo performed rather amusing skits, with singing of traditional Ukrainian songs and typical vatra games. The evening concluded with a Zabava to help bring in the New Year. The last night involved a slide show presentation of photos from tabir.

The National Executive would like to thank once again pod. Katerina Kobryn and d. Slavko Duma for their tiresome effort in organizing and executing the program for tabir. We would also like to thank the Komanda and all other vykhovynyky, speakers, guests who helped with various lectures and roles throughout tabir.
