Members of CYM Bradford Branch participated in the program and commemoration for the victims of Holodomor in Ukraine in 1932 – 33.

The commemoration took place on Saturday 26 November 2016, in the Ukrainian Catholic Church “The Holy Trinity and Pochaiv Mother of God”, in the presence of the Deputy Lord Mayor Councillor Alun Griffiths and the leader of the council, councillor Susan Hinchcliffe.

The program included sumivtsi and schoolchildren from the Ukrainian Saturday school taking part together in a procession and the reading of the song “1933 – Land of Plenty”, written by sumivets Stepan Pasicznyk about the Holodomor. CYM members also read witness accounts, facts about Holodomor and poetry of those tragic events.

The druzhynnytsi choir “Fialka” opened the program singing the prayer “Hospody Pomyluy Nas – Lord have mercy on us”, written by Taras Petrynenko

which enhanced the commemorations and strengthened the solemnness of the occasion, which culminated in the singing of “Vichnaya pamyat – Eternal memory”.
