Wasyl William Krawec “Billy” 1969-2018

It is with great sorrow and despair that Wasyl William Krawec entered into eternal peace on October 14,2018 surrounded by his family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 49. Billy was a loving husband to Lisa Marie Wozniak-Krawec, and devoted father to his three children; daughters Tatiana (Tati), Alexa and son Wasyl (Wasylko), precious son to Maria (Hvizd) Krawec, predeceased by his father, Wasyl Krawec, son-in-law to Lorena Wozniak and cherished brother to Sonya and brother-in-law Michael Finkelstein . Billy will be fondly remembered by his niece Tilly, nephew Lenox, three godchildren and extended family. Billy was born and raised in Yonkers, NY, graduated Manhattan College and ICE, Peter Kump the Institute of Culinary Education. He turned his passion for food by taking over the family business which became a staple in the community. Billy will be particularly remembered as the “Kielbasy King”, owner of Yonkers Miasarnia. He was a parishioner of St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yonkers, NY and a lifelong member of the Ukrainian Community which included the Ukrainian American Youth Association CYM in Yonkers and Arizona, where he and his family resided for several years prior to permanently settling back in Yonkers. From childhood Billy was an exceptional soccer player and member of the Yonkers Krylati Soccer League where he passed down his expertise and sportsmanship to his children. Billy was a hunting enthusiast, but his passion was his Harley Davidson motorcycles which he enjoyed riding with his friends wherever the road would lead, cross country, Lake George or to the heart of the Catskills where he bonded on his stomping ground, Ocelia CYM, Ellenville NY. Billy’s many accomplishments revolved around his devotion to family and friends which was clearly felt through his significant contribution and participation in his work and service within the Ukrainian community.
