Dreaming of gold! Sports Camp has finished in the UK!

After a golden summer of sport, which has included Ukraine’s U20 football side winning the World Cup and Elina Svitolina becoming the first Ukrainian female tennis player to reach a Grand Slam semi-final at Wimbledon, it was now over to our CYMivtsi to showcase their sporting talents. Even the England cricket team won the World Cup, while The Roses (netball) and the Lionesses (football) reached the semi-final of their respective World Cups! There was sporting inspiration all round.

Over 40 “yunatstvo” and more “dryzynykky” took part in a variety of activities throughout the first week of this years CYM summer camp. From archery to body attack, karate to kayaking, yunatstvo also took part in team building exercises, problem solving, as well as the traditional football match against the adults of camp. Unfortunately, the netball match was postponed, and then subsequently cancelled, due to the weather playing its part, providing us with a true British summer. However, the rainy days were not wasted, nor did they dampen the spirits of any of the yuatstvo, who remained positive throughout the entire week.

Other sports included badminton, table tennis, pool & volleyball tournaments to name but a few of the activities that were organised for yunatstvo. A trip away to Carsington water centre was also squeezed in, into what was already an action-packed week.

Yunatstvo were also encouraged to give their feedback on this & previous Sports Tabir’s. Their likes, dislikes, what they would like to see in future Sport Tabir’s as well as any comments or ideas they have, to enable us to tailor a Sports Tabir that accommodates their interests.

This years CYM motto is “In unity is strength” and through sport, it gave our Sumivtsi an excellent opportunity to work in teams while showcasing their individual skills during the week.

Following sports week, the next main tabory have begun under the title “The Dream of Youth”. The annual CYM concert “Poppys” will take place on Sunday 8th August, and all are invited to join.
