65yrs of CYM in Coventry Celebrated

The Ukrainian Youth Association in Coventry celebrated their 65th Anniversary on Saturday 18th October with a concert, meal and ball at the Ukrainian Hall, Leicester Causeway.

Over 100 people attended the event including former members as well as the National Chair Mr Zenon Finiw who presented the Coventry Chair Maria Dzula with a National Certificate in honour of the 65th anniversary.

The audience were entertained with a concert full of dancing and singing as well as a photo history slide show of the Association’s history. At its peak in 1969 there were 124 members of the Association while currently the membership consists of 83 members who continue to inform, develop and promote Ukrainian history and culture by participating in local and national multicultural festivals.

The weekend celebrations finished on Sunday when members of the Association attended a service of thanksgiving at the Ukrainian Catholic Church in Broad Street, Coventry.
