Oseredok Bradford hosted the 2018 Ukrainian Youth Association Northern Region Rally, under the slogan “To achieve freedom – do good”. With the sun shining over Yorkshire, participants from branches across the north, including Bradford, Ashton, Rochdale, Stockport, Manchester and Bolton took part in the official opening ceremony.

Podruha Maria Kopczyk from Rochdale was the commandant of the rally and Druh Zenko Finiw, the head of the UYA in Great Britain was the representative of the National Committee. Priests Otets Bohdan Matkivskyi, Otets Riy and Otets Sampara together oversaw the mass.

The main event, the concert featured poems and declarations from Bradford and dances from Bradford, Stockport, Ashton and Manchester. CYMivtsi from all these branches showcased their talents with some wonderful displays on stage. With members like this, the future of CYM in the North of Great Britain is bright!

A collection was held throughout the day to raise money for the CYM camp in Ukraine, for children affected by the Russian occupation of Crimea and the War in Donbas. A total of £317.27 was raised which will go towards the running costs of the camp. A big thank you to all who gave generously to support the cause.

The main Ukrainian Youth Association National Rally (Krayoviy Zdvyh) will take place on Saturday 7th July at Tarasivka. The National Committee looks forward to welcoming all CYMivtsi and guests to celebrate at the special 70th anniversary event.
