How quickly two weeks of our virtual tour of Ukraine went by. Today, with heavy hearts, we packed our backpacks, went to the airport to catch our plane back to Canada.

No one, however, will forget any time soon how exciting our tour of Ukraine was and how much we got to see over the last ten days: Kharkiv, Poltava, Kyiv, Dnipro, Kherson, Black Sea, Odessa, Yalta, Simferopil, Kalush and the Carpathian mountains and finally Lviv. Let’s also not forget how many things we learned along the way: CYM’s origins, how to bake a ‘korovaj’, ‘Petrykivskyy art’, Ukraine’s traditional costumes, architecture, Ukraine’s national emblem, about Oleksander Shumkov, how to make ‘haluszky’, about the Black Sea and Crimea, ‘Borshchekivskyy vyshytya’, ecology and many many Ukrainian songs.

We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all of the counsellors who made this camp possible starting with above all: Tanya Choly, Natalya Schturyn, Katherine Kolesnik, Sofia Holowatsky and Lesyk Choly, as well as: Vita Khmil, Sophie Svirsky, Laryssa Luszczki, Marichka Shevchenko, our CYMivci from Dnipro and their holova Olya Ivanivna, Adrianna Rudyk, Stephanie Lewycky, Natalya Melysh, Khrystyna Zagirsky, Michaela Yarmol-Matusiak, Roxoliana Smyk and a special thank-you to Vadym Krasnookyy from the band MadHeads.

However, the biggest compliment goes out to our campers from all over Canada and even Kharkiv, Ukraine for their enthusiasm and energetic participation in all virtual activities!

We sincerely hope that we will see all of you next year again albeit in person at our CYM oselyas!
