Tabir 2008/2009: Pid Praporom Bandery
Friday 26 December saw the Official opening of this years CYM Tabir at Oselya Karpaty. After the official Nakaz and welcome by CYM National Executive, the CYM Melbourne President, Peter Duma welcomed all participants of tabir, and congratulated Andrew Lech as the Komandant of the camp. Mark Tkaczuk from CYM Geelong also welcomed this year's participants and wished them a fantastic camping experience.
Andrew Lech in his welcoming speach talked about the theme of this year's tabir "Determination Delivers Success", plus outlined many of the expectations of all camp participants, plus introduced the whole of the Komanda to the tabir.

2009 National Leadership Training Forum
The National Executive has released its first information pack for the 2009 National Leadership Training Forum to be held in Perth in April next year.
A weekend filled with learning, socialising, personal development, community awareness and, loads of fun.
Carols with Traditional Christmas Eve Food in Canberra
For Ukrainians, Christmas (Rizdvo) is a very important time of celebration which is observed according to ancient customs that have come down through the centuries from our ancestors to the present day.
On Sunday 7 December 2008, the Ukrainian Youth Association of Australia, Oseredok Canberra-Queanbeyan observed these beautiful Christmas traditions with “Kolyadky with Traditional Ukrainian Christmas Eve Food”. The event was attended by CYM members, family, friends and the parishioners of the Parish of Saint Voldomyry.

New National Executive elected
The triennial National Conference of the UYA of Australia was held from 14th to 16th November, 2008 in Melbourne. The conference was opened by the outgoing President, Mr Wasyl Senko with a traditional apel, and the singing of the UYA anthem. Delegates, representing almost every UYA branch in Australia were provided with a detailed report of the activities of the outgoing National Executive.
UYA Sydney Spring Tabir
During the October long weekend, UYA Sydney held a "Ratnyk" based spring tabir at the campsite "Hoverlya". The camp opened on Friday night, the 3rd of October, with dinner and some friendly sporting matches. The theme of the tabir was "mind, body and spirit", and it was explored through a variety of activities. Saturdaya's program consisted of not only nutrition sessions, including the establishment of food diaries for Druzynnyky and Starshe Yunatstvo, and cossack history lectures but also three different types of ruhanky!!
UYA Canberra-Queanbeyan Helps Orphans in Ukraine
Members of the UYA branch in Canberra-Queanbeyan have joined forces with the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League of Australia (UCWLA) to send parcels to children in Ukraine. The UCWLA has organised this drive with the aim of providing orphans and children in need in Ukraine with Christmas presents from their extended families in Australia.
UYA Melbourne AGM
The UYA Melbourne branch held their AGM on Sunday 14th September. The members present heard reports from the outgoing committee, received the financial reports and answered questions from the floor. The meeting acknowledged the hard work of the outgoing committee and elected a new President and Committee for the next 2 years. The new UYA Melbourne Committee for 2008 – 2010 is:
President: Peter Duma, Members: Juliana Moravski, Stefan Moravski, Tania Senjov, Olya Lutrov, Hania Polatajko, Hanya Senjov, Andrew Lech, Mary Lech, Julie Semcesen, Peter Romanyk, Natalya Duma, and. Helen Bakaj. Many thanks go to the former President, Juliana Moravski, and the previous committee members for their wonderful achievements during the previous term.
